Sculpture Practice in Shanghai

2017

Creating access to creative spaces can be a daunting task, especially in countries like China, where such opportunities are not always widely available. That's why I was thrilled to be part of a project that aimed to design and build wood, metal, and ceramics studios to open up the world of creativity to those who may not have access to it otherwise.

As an assistant to chief designer Douglas Borkman, my role involved collaborating with equipment manufacturers in both the US and China to ensure that the equipment met the project's requirements. I was also responsible for installing and testing the equipment and designing workshops for the space's first students.

This project allowed me to combine my skills as an art and design teacher with my passion for creating opportunities for those who may not have them. It was an honor to be part of this initiative and see firsthand how it impacted the lives of those who were able to access these creative spaces.
