During the early days of the pandemic, I adopted a cat. At that time, she had just undergone spaying surgery and was wearing an "Elizabethan collar" around her neck. I thought: her sense of confinement paralleled my own feelings of being trapped within a limited space. I transformed the image of that cat into an image of myself. The crafting technique employed is ceramic kiln firing, which is commonly used for making dishware and plates that often appear hand-painted but are actually replicated.
In the middle of the artwork, there's an intersecting area resembling a net, akin to a person or an animal being ensnared within a vast web. The Elizabethan collar itself appears somewhat like a barrier, akin to a screen, obstructing the outside world (the wound from the spaying surgery) and preventing the cat or a person from seeing their surroundings.
