Ceramics, Gold

Drawing on both personal significance and mythical inspiration, this piece intertwines the essence of my Chinese name with ancient tales. The name "金雨" or "Golden Rain" not only reflects the artist's name but also resonates with the Greek myth of Danaë and Zeus. In the myth, Zeus impregnates Danaë by transforming himself into a shower of gold – another manifestation of "golden rain".

From a ceramist's perspective, if one were to envision this as a pot, it should have an opening and a cavity. This pot can be likened to a body, one that might potentially expel something from within. Thus, the concept of "golden rain" is imagined as being sprayed out, originating from the inner chamber of this body. The chosen glaze captures the fleeting moment when cement ground is just beginning to be soaked by rain. It hints at an impending downpour that might soon darken the ground, yet for now, it's just the start of the rain.
